The Index & discovery

The IndexThe sealed inventory and presentation records that identify the work's pieces and their Marks. This protocol layer is different from the site's search indexer. For exampleThe inventory says this revision uses this sketch and this exact library version.Full glossary entry → records the work’s inventory. The site’s indexer makes supported records easier to find.

Select an underlined word to see what it means.

“Why does everything feel like a disconnected token page?”

Follow the relationships between a creator, work, library, revision, and collection.

An inventory and a search service have different jobs.

The IndexThe sealed inventory and presentation records that identify the work's pieces and their Marks. This protocol layer is different from the site's search indexer. For exampleThe inventory says this revision uses this sketch and this exact library version.Full glossary entry → is KEEL’s sealed inventory and presentation layer: which pieces and versions belong to a work. The site’s indexer is software that reads supported records and organizes search results.

Use search to find an artist, SlabThe collectible token recorded in your wallet. It identifies an owned item and points to its work. For exampleYou collect Tidal Study #7. That token is your Slab; the artwork files have their own storage records.Full glossary entry →, release, or Part. Follow its evidence back to the intended chain and record.

The site learns from recorded activity.

A contract event is a small record emitted when an operation happens. The indexer follows supported events to discover collections, ownership changes, and new revisions.

New contract families need explicit support. If indexing is delayed, an operation may already exist onchain before it appears in search.

FOR EXAMPLE

The Slab exists, but search has not caught up

Your mint has a successful receipt and the intended token can be read from the chain.

The gallery listing may still be waiting for the indexer. Inspect that record and the indexer’s status rather than minting a replacement.

What this means for you: Missing search results do not by themselves mean the transaction failed.

Read the label for the question you have.

Discoverable means a record is in the search view. Artist approval describes participation. CleanThe declared resource checks passed. It is a statement about those checks, not a license, value judgment, or promise of perfect code. For exampleThe received script matches the revision's Mark and length.Full glossary entry → describes a specific successful verification. A current contract read tells you the state at the time of that read.

QuestionWhere to look
Can I find it?IndexThe sealed inventory and presentation records that identify the work's pieces and their Marks. This protocol layer is different from the site's search indexer. For exampleThe inventory says this revision uses this sketch and this exact library version.Full glossary entry → and search
Who approved the artist?Program status and its record
Are these the committed bytes?Resource checks and read-back
Can I mint or claim now?Current contract state and wallet review

Understand a missing result.

“No matching work” means the search found no result. “Still indexing” means the listing is catching up. “File unavailable” means a file could not be reached, and “unsupported contract” means the site cannot read that contract type. The troubleshooting guide helps you choose the next step.

Technical detail: event identity and live state

IndexThe sealed inventory and presentation records that identify the work's pieces and their Marks. This protocol layer is different from the site's search indexer. For exampleThe inventory says this revision uses this sketch and this exact library version.Full glossary entry → events with their network, emitting contract, transaction, and log position. Account for replay, interruptions, and reorganizations. The searchable database accelerates discovery; current authority and presentation verification must resolve their own required contract state and byte evidence.
